Stay Protected with Essential Vaccinations

Vaccinations (or immunisations) are a safe and highly effective way to prevent serious infectious diseases throughout life. At Kenneth Tan Medical Clinic, our Family Physicians provide comprehensive vaccination services for all ages, following Singapore’s national recommendations and ensuring your protection is up-to-date.

Why Vaccinate?

  • Personal Protection: Significantly reduces your risk of catching and suffering from preventable diseases.
  • Herd Immunity: Helps shield vulnerable individuals in our community (infants, elderly, immunocompromised) who may not be able to receive certain vaccines.
  • Prevents Disease Outbreaks: Reduces the overall spread of infections like measles, influenza, and pertussis.
  • Supports Healthy Living: Contributes to overall wellbeing and reduces healthcare costs associated with treating vaccine-preventable diseases.
  • Travel Safety: Protects against diseases prevalent in other countries (see our Travel Health section).

Vaccinations Available at Our Clinic:

We provide vaccinations aligned with Singapore’s national schedules and individual needs:

  • National Childhood Immunisation Schedule (NCIS):
    • We offer the full range of mandatory and recommended childhood vaccinations (e.g., 6-in-1, MMR, Pneumococcal, Rotavirus, HPV for relevant age groups).
    • Subsidies: NCIS vaccinations are significantly subsidised by the government for eligible Singaporean children at CHAS GP clinics like ours.
  • National Adult Immunisation Schedule (NAIS):
    • We provide recommended adult vaccines based on age and health status, including:
      • Influenza (Flu): Recommended annually. Subsidised for eligible Singaporeans via CHAS/PG/MG/Healthier SG.
      • Pneumococcal (PCV13/PPSV23): Protects against pneumococcal disease. Subsidised for eligible seniors and specific risk groups. Recommended for other adults based on risk. MediSave claimable (up to limits).
      • Human Papillomavirus 2(HPV2): Protects against HPV-related cancers. Fully subsidised for eligible Secondary 1 females. MediSave claimable (up to age 26) for females.
      • Hepatitis B: Recommended for adults lacking immunity. MediSave claimable.
      • Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (Tdap): Booster recommended, especially important for those around infants.
      • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR): For adults lacking immunity.
      • Hepatitis A: Recommended based on risk/travel.
      • Varicella (Chickenpox): For adults without history of infection/vaccination. MediSave claimable.
      • Shingles (Herpes Zoster): Recommended for seniors (typically age 50+).
  • Newer Vaccine Options (Unsubsidized):
    • We understand the desire for the latest protection. We stock and offer consultations for:
    • Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine (PCV20 - e.g., Prevenar 20): Offers protection against 20 strains of pneumococcal bacteria, providing broader coverage than PCV13/PPSV23 listed on the current NAIS. Discuss with our GP if this newer option is suitable for you.
    • RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) Vaccine: Recently available vaccine to protect primarily older adults (typically 60+) and those with certain chronic conditions against severe RSV infection.
    • Gardasil 9: It is available for individuals outside the subsidised age groups who wish to have protection against the 9 HPV types it covers.
  • Travel Vaccinations:
    • Consultation required to assess needs based on destination.
    • Commonly stocked: Typhoid, Hepatitis A.
    • Advice and referral provided for other vaccines like Yellow Fever (requires an MOH-designated centre), Japanese Encephalitis, Rabies, if needed.
  • Other Vaccinations: Such as Meningococcal vaccines for specific groups (e.g., Hajj/Umrah travellers, students going to certain countries).

Your Vaccination Visit:

  1. Consultation: Our GP will review your (or your child’s) health history, vaccination records, and specific needs (age, lifestyle, travel, health conditions).
  2. Recommendation: Discuss suitable vaccines based on national schedules (NCIS/NAIS), individual requirements and available newer options.
  3. Information: Explain the benefits, potential side effects, and address any questions you have. We will also discuss applicable subsidies and MediSave eligibility.
  4. Administration: Safely administer the vaccine(s).
  5. Record Keeping: Update your health records and report the vaccination details to the National Immunisation Registry (NIR), ensuring your records are centrally maintained.
